Well, I read on the Dreamhost Status Blog that all Dreamhost coupons and promo codes were being capped at $50 for their cash discount and I just read in a Dreamhost forum article that this new $50 limit is now in effect. This means that all coupon codes, including ones that used to give $97 off your first year’s plan, are now capped at $50. All codes still work but will only provide a $50 discount, as can be confirmed on the second page of the signup process where it displays the cost of your plan net of any discounts.
What does this mean for everyone? Well, it means that your best bet for the best Dreamhost discount coupon code is one of the combination feature codes that provides an extra lifetime domain registration, a free lifetime unique IP address, or extra disk or bandwidth along with a $50 cash discount. I’m posting some useful codes here in this article, but if you don’t want any of those extras and just want the $50 discount, use the DHPC50 promo code for $50 off. HOWEVER, I might have noticed a few people still getting $97 off using my DHPC97 promo code, so give it a try if you want to see if you get $97 off - you may get lucky!

Is my assumption correct that there are no promo code opportunities for anyone that is renewing an existing Dreamhost site?

Hi Rex,
Yes, unfortunately it’s true. I don’t know of any promo codes that work for renewals of our Dreamhost accounts. And we can’t sign up for new accounts because Dreamhost won’t transfer over hosting of domains that have been previously hosted at Dreamhost to an account that was created with a promo code.
