Well, I read on the Dreamhost Status Blog that all Dreamhost coupons and promo codes were being capped at $50 for their cash discount and I just read in a Dreamhost forum article that this new $50 limit is now in effect. This means that all coupon codes, including ones that used to give $97 off your first year’s plan, are now capped at $50. All codes still work but will only provide a $50 discount, as can be confirmed on the second page of the signup process where it displays the cost of your plan net of any discounts.

What does this mean for everyone? Well, it means that your best bet for the best Dreamhost discount coupon code is one of the combination feature codes that provides an extra lifetime domain registration, a free lifetime unique IP address, or extra disk or bandwidth along with a $50 cash discount. I’m posting some useful codes here in this article, but if you don’t want any of those extras and just want the $50 discount, use the DHPC50 promo code for $50 off. HOWEVER, I might have noticed a few people still getting $97 off using my DHPC97 promo code, so give it a try if you want to see if you get $97 off – you may get lucky!

Effective Tuesday, December 11th, 2007, all past, present, and future dreamhost coupons are going to be capped at a $50 discount. Here’s a quote from the Dreamhost Newsletter:

“No DreamHost promo code can any longer give a discount greater than $50. All new and existing codes will be capped at this amount off. You still get $97 (minus the discount given) for somebody using your promo code, but now that discount can’t be more than $50.”

As of this post, there are still a few more days to use the $97 codes. I’m going to create a new post with only eligible codes to prevent any confusion, but hurry to use the existing codes while you can!

So a bit of background first: Dreamhost offers a referral program to its current clients where the referrer has the choice of receiving $97 immediately or 10% of all revenue from the referred party.
